Congresswoman Escobar, 17 Other Democrats Urge DHS to Rescind Environmental, Historic Preservation Waivers at Big Bend
June 16, 2026

"We write in strong opposition to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) recent waivers of numerous federal environmental and historic preservation laws inside Big Bend National Park. These waivers endanger the intrinsic nature of the park, local economies, biodiversity, and the safety of communities along the Rio Grande River. We urge you to rescind these waivers and instead offer proposals subject to public review and input. There is no border security emergency here that warrants giving CBP unfettered authority to unnecessarily destroy some of the wildest parts of Big Bend or to disregard the overwhelmingly bipartisan will of the people, the actual data showing minimal numbers of border crossings inside the park, and the values that Texans and all Americans hold dear as represented by the National Parks."

Moulton Joins Democratic Colleagues Demanding Investigation into ICE “Ghost Flights”
May 12, 2026

"We write to express grave concerns regarding Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) Air Operation’s (“IAO”) deportation flights, which have rapidly expanded under President Trump’s aggressive mass deportation
agenda. We remain profoundly opposed to the escalation of immigration enforcement practices that separate families, undermine due process, and inflict lasting harm on communities, and we are alarmed by ICE’s evasion of oversight and accountability related to their air operations. As Members of Congress, it is our duty to carry out
oversight of these operations. Given the Federal Aviation Administration’s (“FAA”) overarching responsibility for aviation safety and operations, we urge the agency to work with Congress to hold ICE accountable and ensure transparency and the protection of human safety and dignity on flights."

Rep. Menefee Conducts Oversight Visit at Dilley Immigration Processing Center, Calls for Facility’s Closure
May 5, 2026

“What we saw today were mothers, fathers, and children being subjected to cruel and degrading treatment,” Rep. Menefee continued. “These are human beings. They deserve dignity, due process, and basic humanity. What is happening inside this facility is unacceptable. This will not be my last visit. We cannot look away. We must close this facility, reunite families, and build an immigration system that reflects our American values.”

Tri-Caucus Leads More Than 75 Democrats in Demand to Preserve Housing Assistance for Mixed-status Families
April 23, 2026

"Like other immigration policies from this Administration, the proposed rule attempts to solve a problem that does not exist. It is based on the false premise that ineligible noncitizens are receiving housing assistance and diverting resources from citizens," wrote the lawmakers. "In reality, current HUD rules limit rental assistance to household members with eligible immigration status, and ineligible individuals are prohibited from receiving such aid."
