Representative Tran Issues Statement Following House Vote on H.R. 3486
Sept. 11, 2025

“Today, I voted against the Stop Illegal Entry Act of 2025. As the son of refugees, I’m disappointed by this extreme measure while the House majority ignores real solutions to improve our immigration system,” said Representative Tran. “This bill promotes racist tactics while doing nothing to increase meaningful enforcement of our immigration laws.  Additionally, it would strain our already-overburdened justice system, exploding costs and misdirecting resources that should be used to detain violent criminals. Our deficit has already reached an unacceptable $37 trillion -- mandating more unnecessary federal expenditures would add an even greater financial burden for our children to bear. This legislation will only sow more division in our communities and push us further from meaningful bipartisan immigration reform.”

Rep. Kelly joins over 65 Colleagues in Demanding Answers on ICE Racial Profiling
Sept. 10, 2025

“We have been concerned by recent statements and actions undertaken by DHS that seem to indicate that the Department is unlawfully using race as a basis for conducting immigration enforcement operations,” wrote the lawmakers. “A strategy of immigration enforcement that singles out law-abiding people solely because of their race is at odds with our constitution’s commitment to both equality and freedom from unreasonable searches.”

Joint Statement from CAPAC, Georgia Members on Georgia Immigration Raid
Sept. 8, 2025

“We are deeply alarmed by the recent immigration raid at a battery plant in Georgia. Hundreds of immigrants—many of whom are of Korean descent—have been detained, reportedly including U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. Instead of targeting violent criminals, the Trump administration is going after immigrants at work and in communities of color to meet its mass deportation quotas. These senseless actions rip apart families, hurt the economy, and undermine the trust of our global partners. We are closely monitoring the situation and demanding the administration uphold due process for the workers impacted.”

Durbin, Duckworth Join Warren To Lead Investigation Into Trump Administration's Betrayal Of Immigrant Service Members, Veterans, And Military Families
Sept. 4, 2025

"U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and U.S. Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), along with Representatives Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA-06), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH-02), and Delia Ramirez (D-IL-03), opened a new investigation into the Trump Administration’s arrest, detention, and deportation of non-citizen service members, Veterans, and military families. The lawmakers wrote to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Department of Defense (DOD) demanding an explanation for these practices, which go against decades of precedent and long-standing DHS policy indicating that military service offers protection from immigration enforcement against military service members, Veterans, and their immediate family members."

Reps. Chu, Meng, Vargas, and Colleagues Raise Alarm and Demand Answers on Trump Administration’s Language Access Roll Backs
Aug. 15, 2025

"In their letter to President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi, the Members write, “President Trump does not have the authority to declare English as the national language. The issue of a national language has been debated in Congress, and the legislative branch has not made such an establishment… The memo attempts to roll back decades of progress and weakens the legal framework to combat national origin discrimination by treating language access as an unnecessary privilege rather than a civil right."

Chair Grace Meng, Rep. Dave Min, and CAPAC Members Demand Answers into ICE’s Treatment of Asian Immigrants
Aug. 8, 2025

“These cases suggest potential violations of constitutional protections. The U.S. Constitution provides important due process protections to all persons within the United States, regardless of immigration status. For example, the Fifth Amendment guarantees due process protections against actions taken by the federal government, while the Sixth Amendment ensures the right to legal counsel in criminal prosecutions. The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly affirmed that LPRs are entitled to these same protections,” wrote the lawmakers.

Reps. Kelly, Barragan, Clarke Lead Letter to RFK Jr., Demanding Answers on Health Data Given to ICE
July 30, 2025

“The role of HHS should be to protect the health of all those living in this country and provide essential human services, not to be a watchdog for DHS or act as immigration enforcement,” the Members stated in the letter. “For decades, the U.S. has ensured emergency medical care to anyone in need, regardless of immigration status. The use of Medicaid data for immigration enforcement weaponizes health care as a surveillance mechanism for DHS.”

Rep. Cisneros and Vice Chair Lieu Bash Marine Detention, Demand Answers
June 17, 2025

Today, Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-31) and House Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Ted W. Lieu (CA- 36) led 34 House Democrats to condemn the reports that U.S. Marines detained a U.S. citizen and veteran last Saturday.

“As Members of Congress, we take an oath to defend the Constitution — the same oath that you and every service member has taken…” the letter reads. “The use of our military service members in this situation, who have sacrificed so much to defend our country, is sickening and disrespectful. The Constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful assembly are hallmarks of our democracy. We must be united in protecting these rights.”

Reps. Cisneros, Chu, and Tran Demand Answers from Homeland Security and ICE After Being Illegally Denied Entry to Adelanto Detention Facility
June 13, 2025

"Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-31), Judy Chu (CA-28), and Rep. Derek Tran (CA-45) sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons condemning the agencies for unlawfully blocking their legally authorized oversight visit to the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in San Bernardino County, California. On June 8, 2025, the Members attempted to conduct an inspection of the facility in response to a wave of immigration raids across Los Angeles County. Despite federal law guaranteeing Members of Congress unfettered access to DHS facilities for oversight purposes, the delegation was denied entry, even after waiting outside for nearly two hours.

“This past weekend, I joined Reps. Chu and Tran to conduct Congressional oversight at the Adelanto ICE Detention Center, but instead we were met with locks on the gate, no answer to our calls, and denied entry,” said Rep. Cisneros. “We have a responsibility to ensure ICE is abiding by the law, but they refused to even let us in. We will not stop pressing for answers.”

Rep. Gomez, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Barragán Lead Bicameral Effort Demanding President Trump Withdraw National Guard and Marines from LA
June 10, 2025

"Representatives Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA), Representative Nanette Barragán (CA-44), and 39 other California Delegation Representatives are demanding President Doanld Trump immediately withdraw the National Guard and U.S. Marines from Los Angeles, California. In a bicameral letter sent today, the lawmakers condemn the deployments as an unlawful overreach that bypassed state and local authority and urge the immediate withdrawal of the National Guard and Marines.

“We are writing to express grave concern regarding the deployment of the National Guard and the activation of 700 Marines to Los Angeles. These actions were taken without the consent of California Governor Gavin Newsom and over the objections of local law enforcement. It constitutes a clear violation of constitutional principles and law, and a grave overreach of executive authority,” wrote the lawmakers.

May 29, 2025

"Today, U.S. Senators Alex Padilla, Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Immigration Subcommittee, and Adam Schiff (both D-Calif.) joined Representative Luz Rivas (D-Calif.-29), Representative Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.-37), and 34 other lawmakers in urging Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to reconsider the termination of the legal status of a four-year-old Bakersfield girl and her family, potentially leading to life-threatening deportation. The young girl, identified by her initials as S.G.V., has short bowel syndrome and could die within days if she is deported and loses essential medical care at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles."
