American Families United Act

This bill--

  • Empowers the Attorney General to terminate removal proceedings, decline to remove, grant permission to reapply, and waive grounds of inadmissibility for illegal aliens who are spouses or children of U.S. Citizens.
  • Creates a presumption of hardship for illegal aliens who would be separated from their families by removal. 
  • Empowers the Secretary of Homeland Security to waive grounds of inadmissibility or deportability, decline to issue Notices to Appear, decline to reinstate removal, and grant permission to reapply for aliens who are spouses or children of U.S. citizens. 
  • Allows aliens to petition to reopen old cases if the case would have been decided differently under this law's requirements to protect illegal children and spouses of U.S. citizens.
